Can I use bleach to kill car mold and be done with it?

What about ozone machines? My detailer used one.

Ozone oxidizes odor compounds and can kill surface mold, but it does not neutralize mycotoxins or reach deep into foam and upholstery the way chlorine dioxide gas does. Ozone can temporarily reduce the smell of mold without resolving the underlying contamination — which is why vehicles treated with ozone alone often relapse.

How do I know if my car still has dead spore contamination after treatment?

Persistent symptoms — sneezing, congestion, fatigue, or headaches that improve when you're away from your vehicle and return when you get back in — are the clearest indicator.
